Will other universities recognise my AdvDip qualification?

It depends on each insitution you apply for. Some institutions may offer credit points in recognition of your training and some may not, you will need to enquire directly with the institution. Our Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Acting) will provide all the sufficient training for a career in the performing arts and stands on it’s own as a qualification. Some students wish to extend this qualification for other career purposes.

Does ACA consider RPL (recognition of prior learning)?

Entry into the Full-time Course is by audition only. ACA can only consider RPL status upon being offered a place in the course. Generally, it is a requirement that students attend all classes as the importance of developing the ensemble is a highly valued aspect of the training offered.

Is your full-time acting course like the other 3-year schools? (NIDA, WAAPA, VCA)

In terms of career training and industry preparation, yes. But we use an accelerated training philosophy and a unique 2.5-year structure, which means you will cover similar essential core material over a shorter time and graduate 5 months prior to the other schools. Our year is also 9 - 10 weeks longer each year than the other schools.

Is the qualification recognised in the industry?

Absolutely. You will graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting). As the Centre was founded 1987 and The Journey (now known as ACA's Full-time Acting Course) in 1990,  the industry greatly respects and supports our graduates. The feedback we receive from the industry is outstanding. We invite you to enquire within the industry and you’ll quickly find out.

Does the course prepare you for the industry?

The curriculum and teaching practices all reflect the industry of today, whilst giving you a fusion of traditional technique through contemporary training. This is why our grads are so welcomed and embraced by the industry – they are skilled and ready to work with vigour, enthusiasm and a deep commitment.

Is there a 'culling' of students?

We accept approximately 24 students and are committed to train and graduate each and every one. If you commit to, travel with, and achieve the levels of excellence available to every student, you will graduate. Therefore you won’t find fear and damaging competition as a dynamic of this program – the space is clear for you to work at your very best – and, to go beyond...

Is the course expensive?

It is comparative to most other schools, the difference being that you pay as you go, as opposed to graduating with a HECS debt. This takes managing from a number of our students but they do it. It’s remarkable how resourceful you can get when it’s worth it.

Is there a Showcase?

Yes. An extensive list of guests including casting directors, agents and directors are invited to come and view our graduating year when they are launched into the industry 6 months prior to the other institutions. This means you are ready for castings and work immediately upon graduation.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us or if you have the opportunity, talk to any of our graduates.
